Renegade Virtual Craft Fair

Hey Everyone! It is with great excitement to announce that this evening I will be participating in Renegade’s Virtual Craft fair where on the first night of this two day event, I’ll be presenting my past and current works, why crochet, my inspirations and much much more! Waiting For ‘The Covid Storm’ To Pass

It’s now been 3 weeks..almost three weeks of being at home waiting for ‘the Covid-19 Storm’ to calm the heck down. In the meantime, I’ve been surprisingly busy! I’ve managed to clean out and organize my old forgotten studio space (where I’ve spent most of my SAIC fashion years building collections from scratch). I’ve made face masks for my family (which were originally going to be for my local hospital..but they are apparently doing alright with their current supplies thankfully). I’ve been cooking, journaling, working out... taking walks around the neighborhood and learning to adapt to this new confining lifestyle.  It’s not been easy, but somehow you gotta make the best of what you’ve got and make sure your extra careful...

Happy 2020 ! ! !

HMLSTUDIO is officially 2 years old! I can’t believe it, it has take many years..perhaps even a decade for build this brand to what it has become these days. I learned a lot, improved the image, edited the pieces I made to make it more streamline. The journey was all worth it. As I step into 2020 and seeing the next decade ahead of me, I plan on participating in more events, be more involved with the brand (as in becoming more consistent with posting and creating product that demonstrate how fashion can become totally sustainable). Also create more content regarding my process as a designer, why sustainable fashion is vital these days, living a Hygge life,etc... I’m ready for HMLSTUDIO’s new chapter and...

Why The Benret ?

    In the summer of 2017, Heidi Mullins-Lemieux, a Chicago crochet designer, established HMLSTUDIO. This is basically the vehicle for the study of conventional crochet but giving the craft an upgraded perspective. This new perspective involves using minimalist, architectural and fashion influences while keeping the need for wearability of each piece.  One of Heidi's signature pieces that she developed in recent years is the Benret. After countless visit to multiple stores looking for the 'perfect winter hat’, she failed to find one.
